5 Unique Ways To Preserve Your Memory (Hint: Don’t Forget the Alkaline Water)

Failing to remember things is one of those afflictions that is often joked about, but for the person who struggles to keep track of where, when and who, it isn’t always a laughing matter.

"I forgot where I put the list of all of the reasons I have to stop making lists."

Work can be affected, arrangements are fraught with the possibility of being misremembered, and you end up with so many lists that you need a separate filing system to keep track of them all!

What many people don’t know is that there are powerful ways to boost your memory. If you’ve left your ‘phone at the office one too many times, or forgotten to post that vital letter yet again, then check out these tips and sharpen up your memory skills now!

1. Get Enough Sleep

It was always going to make the list, wasn’t it? There’s no way around it; if you constantly burn the candle at both ends, then your overall health suffers. Even low-grade tiredness makes you feel mentally foggy, and your memory suffers as a result. Get to bed earlier every night, not just once or twice a week, and you’ll reap the benefits.

2. Omega 3 And Your Brain

Research tells us that omega-3 fatty acids are particularly beneficial for keeping your brain healthy. It doesn’t matter what age you are; your brain is capable of adapting and forming new neural pathways at any stage of your life. Salmon, mackerel, tuna, pumpkin seeds, broccoli and walnuts are all excellent sources of Omega 3.

3. Alkaline Water And Your Brain

This exciting research concludes that hydrogen-rich, ionized water is fantastic for boosting brain health. Studies have shown that drinking alkaline water may be beneficial for the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Plus, alkaline water hydrates you faster and more efficiently than regular water. With hydration being another factor in brain health; ionized water really is your friend here.

4. Give Your Brain A Workout – Part One

Your brain is incredibly complex and brilliant at all kinds of things. But it does like to be challenged. The message here is “use it or lose it.” Learn fresh things. Study something new, preferably in a whole different direction to your previous activities. The best exercise for your brain, to help encourage those new neural pathways, is anything that breaks new horizons.

5. Give your Brain a Workout – Part Two

Exercise more. Getting your whole body working means that you’re helping cells to react, multiply and release something called neurotrophic factor BDNF, which is key for brain function and memory.

Exercise can improve cognitive function and has been linked to the increased expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) ~Findings of a 2013 study

How about setting yourself a challenge to keep up at least 3 of these brain-boosting good habits and let us know what improvements you’ve noticed? At least we know you won’t forget!

  1. I’m interested in reading the research regarding hydrogen rich alkaline water and Parkinsons disease. Also, if there is research on ALS and alkaline water.

    Thanks.

    1. Hi, Victoria. We hope that you try your best to get the amount of sleep that your body needs. We recommend drinking a glass of alkaline water before you sleep and after you wake up to help calm your nerves at night and give your system a nice, refreshing boost of energy in the morning.
